Eavesdropping in Starbucks

So, Saturday, Uncle Dad and I were at Starbucks.  He was working the puzzles in the local paper, and I was sitting back, sipping my coffee, and yes, I admit it, I was listening in on the conversation at the next table.

Two young college women were sitting there catching up, and talking about Christianity, and how it is so much harder in college to keep up the daily practices such as Bible Reading and journaling that they found so easy at home.

One thing that they touched on before I pulled myself away from their conversation is this.  If you tell a friend that God loves them, and they then ask you "If God loves me then how can you say that He will send me to hell?"  That is not an unusual question.

My answer to that question is this.  God doesn't send you to hell.  He offers you a choice, either hell or Him.  It is YOUR choice.  He wants you to choose Him, but He allows you to make the choice.  God doesn't want anyone to parish (die and go to hell) but rather would like for all to know Him and come to heaven with Him.  (Does anyone have that verse?  for the life of me, I can't bring the reference to mind)

So, It is your Choice - what will you choose.

A request for your prayers

My sister (in law) is in the hospital.  She has contracted a virus, and the doctors are "trying to keep her comfortable while her body heals itself".  They are having a hard time keeping her temperature down.  Please pray for

1.  Healing of her body

2.  Peace for her and for her family (husband, 4 children and 1 son-in-law)

3.  Peace for her siblings, parents and their families

4.  Travelling mercies for her kids who are "coming home" to be with her during this battle with the virus.

Many, many thanks.

Really!?!?

So, I was sitting in church singing along with everyone else.  It's a song that I really like, so I had closed my eyes, so that I could really take it in, and spend some time in worship.  The chorus is "You're all I want...., You're all I've ever needed, You're all I want..., Help me know You are near..."  I only got through "You're all I wa.." and then I had to shut my mouth and just talk to God for a minute.

I have had way more alone time than I like this week, and truth be told, I was getting kind of whiney with God about it.  I did NOT, however, take advantage of my alone time to read my Bible, or to spend that time getting to know God better in anyway.  I was too busy feeling sorry for myself, on my computer, watching TV, talking on the phone, etc etc.  So, this morning as I started singing "You're all I wa..." all I could think was that IF that was indeed true of me, then I would have cherished this time, and spent it alone with God, enjoying His presence, seeking His will, praying for my family and friends.

Please pray with me that this coming week, I will take full advantage of my alone time to "Sit at the feet of Jesus", soaking Him in, and getting to know Him better, so that the next time I sing "You're all I want" it will be truth coming from my heart, not just words to a song.

Thanks,

Aunt Mom

A Wonderful Week-end

I just had a wonderful week-end.  My son and his wife gave Uncle Dad and me the best gift!  Ever!  They were moving this week-end, so Uncle Dad and I went to their house Friday night, picked up our only grandchild, and brought him back to our house to spend the night!  YES!  He is cute as a button, and I just couldn't get enough of him.

We took him to the local coffee shop to show him off there, then over to the scrapbooking store where a friend of ours was involved in a crop.  All of the ladies oohed and aahed over him.  Out to lunch, and home again.  I had forgotten how much I love little ones!  He is only 5 months old, but growing like a weed.  He changes every time that I see him.

You can tell that his Mom and Dad are great parents.  He is a very happy baby.  When we took him back Sat. night, I fully expected that once he saw them, Uncle Dad and I would get the cold shoulder, but no, he was still happy to be held by one of us.  The difference was in his demeanor.  Before we got there, he was quiet and determined, and would smile when I coaxed one out of him.  However, once we got to their new apt., and Mommy and Daddy, he was all smiles, and was even chuckling some.  No coaxing was necessary.

You could see the love on all three of their faces.  It is really an experience to watch YOUR child with HIS (/HER) child.

God, thank you so very much for this week-end with Scooter and his parents.

Happy Anniversary

Today is my sister's 24th wedding anniversary.  She and her husband have a wonderful marriage.  They have worked at learning to enjoy what the other likes.  He likes to hunt, so she took up hunting.  She likes photography, so he has taken up photography.  She likes antiques, so he goes antiquing with her.  She goes to the gun shops with him.  I love that about them as a couple.

Happy Anniversary, Sis!
